Trim a video using the built-in Photos app

  • Open the Photos app and select the video you want to compress.
  • Tap the Edit button in the top right corner.
  • Drag the left and/or right arrow to select the starting or ending frame on the video thumbnails.
  • Tap Done and select Save Video or Save Video as New Clip to save the video. The former will overwrite the original video, the later will create a new video clip with the length of the source video you have selected.

Download the video compressor from App Store first. You can download and use its free version with ads.

Run it on your iPhone, it will ask for permission to access your photo library. After you can browse to your Camera Roll to find and import video you like to edit to the compressor app.

Specify the target video size you like to shrink the source video to. Then tap on the Save icon in the top right corner to compress the video on iPhone. You can then preview the compressed video.
