Convert Photos to PDF on iPhone

You may want to convert photos to PDF on iPhone sometimes. For example, if you take a screenshot of a web page, conversation, and save it as an image file and need to print it out, then you can convert the photo to PDF first. When you take pictures of some paper documents, receipts, or even books using your Camera, you may prefer to turn them into PDF files so you can manage and access them using Books or other PDF readers. Today, we will show you several different free ways and apps to convert photos, screenshots in PNG, HEIC, JPG, JPEG, or other formats into PDF file on your iPhone.

Method 1. Convert pictures to PDF using Files app

Since iOS 13, Apple introduced the Files app and it has become very useful. We can use it to access external storage, scan documents, compress files, convert files to PDF and so many more. We can use it to convert photos, image files, screenshots to PDF files easily. If the pictures are saved in the Photos app. Find and share it, then choose Save to Files, choose a folder to save it. Fire up the Files app on your iPhone, browse to the location where the photos, images are saved.

Long press on the image thumbnail to pop up the contextual menu and choose Quick Actions > Create PDF from the bottom of this menu list. A PDF file with the same name will be created and saved to the same folder as the original image file in Files app on your iPhone.

Merge multiple photos into a single PDF file

If need, you can even use the Files app to combine two or more image files into one PDF file on your iPhone. Again share or copy the images files from other apps on your phone to the Files app. Then launch the Files app to find them. Tap the Menu (ellipsis in the circle) at the top right corner, then choose Select, tap to select two or more images. Tap the Menu (ellipsis in the circle) at the bottom right corner to bring up the action menu at the lower section on your phone screen. Choose Create PDF. A PDF file with the same name will be created and saved to the same folder as the original photos in Files app on your iPhone.

Note that the PDF file size might be very large. So double check the file size in Files app before you send or transfer it to other people or devices. The Files app also gives users the ability to zip or compress files and documents, but it seems can not help us reduce down file sizes of those media files, such as photos, videos.

Method 2. Convert Photos to PDF via Books

The stock Books app on your iPhone allows you to turn photos, images, or pictures into PDF file documents on your iPhone with ease.

Launch the Photos app on your iOS device. Select the photo you wish to convert to PDF. Tap on the Share button at the bottom left corner, you will then see the pop-up menu at the lower section of your iPhone screen. You will find AirDrop, Messages, Mail, and other apps to share the selected photo. Tap More at the end to bring up the complete list of all supported apps and choose Books. The selected photo or screenshot will be instantly converted to PDF file and imported to the Books app at the same time.

Method 3. Convert Photos to PDF via Print

There is a hidden feature in iOS that can help us easily convert various files or documents to PDF on iPhone iPad. For instance, you can follow this tutorial to save an email as PDF on iPhone.

Open the default Photos app on your iPhone, choose the picture you want to convert, tap on the Share button, then choose “Print” from the sharing option menu.

Again if you can’t see the Print button, scroll horizontally through the menu to show more options. The Print Options screen opens on your iPhone where you can select printer and choose how many copies you like to print out. Here you can use the pinch-zoom spreading gesture to enlarge image on iPhone and then tap the Share button at the top right corner and choose Save to Files button at the action menu at the screen bottom. Here you can choose to save the PDF document to iCloud, iPhone, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.

  1. While following the directions of how to convert saved photos on my iPhone X to pdf format I get to the drop down menu after long hold the photo in files folder however there is no change to pdf tab available like shown in the demonstration.
