Use Zapya file transfer tool on Mac

Zapya is a free file transfer tool which allows users to transfer files from Android, iPhone, Mac and Windows without using Wi-Fi or mobile data. We have explained how to use it in previous articles. For example, you can share files between iPhone and PC wirelessly with Zapya, transfer files between iPhone and PC or Android via hotspot using Zapya, etc. It has a Mac version as well. Unlike the Windows version, Mac versions gets a very clear interface. Some users may have trouble connecting their Mac and mobile phone or transferring files between them. Today, we will show you the quick steps to connect Android phone and Mac via Zapya and then transfer files from Android to Mac or the other way around using Zapya.

Connect Android and Mac via the mobile hotspot

Run Zapya app on the Android mobile phone, tap the Transfer (exchange) button at middle bottom, the Connect to Share screen opens like this.

Tap Create Group to allow Zapya to enable Wi-Fi Direct or create mobile hotspot automatically. You will then see the QR code and the Group name and password.

If you are running Android 7.1 or above, Zapya can’t enable WiFi hotspot automatically and you will see a prompt message asking you to manually turn it on. Tap on the link which is titled ‘Go to System Settings to enable Personal Hotspot‘ at the bottom of the pop-up dialog. You will be taken to the Wi-Fi hotspot screen, simply touch the ON/OFF toggle besides Hotspot to enable it on your Android phone. Don’t change other hotspot settings here, otherwise the connection may fail. If you see an alert about other devices can connect to your WiFi hotspot to use your mobile data, your battery may run out quickly, tap the Turn On button to confirm. You will then see the QR code and the Group name and password if any above it.

On your Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon at the right of the top menu bar, choose the Wifi hotspot name of your Android phone to connect your Mac to the Android device. Run Zapya on Mac, you will then find your Mac and Android device are connected together automatically.

Share files between Android and Mac

To send files from Mac to Android, simply drag and drop files from Finder to a friend’s avatar on Zapya screen,then the selected files will be sent to the selected Android phone. Drag and drop files to the Zapya icon in the transfer app to transfer the files to all connected mobile phones at the same time.

To send files from Android to Mac, browse through the Photo, Video, Audio, Files category in Zapya on Android, tap to select files and send them to your Mac. Received files are stored into the default download directory on Mac. You can open Finder > Downloads to find them. You can also click “History” button on sidebar of Zapya for Mac, double-click a received file, then you can open the file in Finder. If you send multiple files from Android to Mac, they will be saved as a folder in the Downloads folder on Mac.

  1. after choosing the hotspot name the Mac doesn’t connect to the android at all. I don’t know why
